| Best Practices for Public History Training |
|
The NCPH Curriculum and Training Committee is developing “best practices” documents for several key aspects of public history curriculum and program development. The goal is not to provide strict guidelines or to create an accreditation process for public history. Rather, the committee offers a set of “recommended” practices, recognizing that each graduate or undergraduate program has its own goals, resources, and needs and will thus develop its own distinct personality. We also hope these documents will highlight some of the core elements to which every program should aspire.
Now, we want and need your help. We have placed links to the first four of these documents below.
We hope to gather input from you over the summer months and then to prepare a draft reflecting those changes to present at the NCPH board meeting in the fall. We ask that you send your comments and suggestions to ncph@iupui.edu by September 30, 2008. All comments will be posted on this page unless it is indicated that they should only be shared with the Curriculum and Training Committee. |
As a first step toward developing a set of "best practices," the NCPH Curriculum and Training Committee surveyed public history programs at the MA level. Click here to read a summary of the 2005 report.
